Enterprise Strategy Program (ESP) is a research piece launched in conjunction with several VARs to examine how successful companies use performance management to generate value for stakeholders.

We conducted in-depth interviews with senior finance executives at more than 125 companies based in North America & Europe to hear their views, practices, and priorities in performance management. Executives – as leaders in finance, business development and sales; also collaborators with the business, and strategic advisors – told us about the broad array of methods they use to ensure their companies deliver the performance their stakeholders demand.

These methods covered a broad range of business strategies including technical innovation, product differentiation, customer intimacy, social responsibility and brand intimacy. The common emerging theme, however, was that top performing organisations have the ability to turn strategic ambition into operational reality by embracing financial and operating metrics that link business activities tightly to strategy execution.
